The USDA Distance Learning and Telemedicine (DLT) grant program is now accepting grant applications. USDA’s Rural Utilities Service has made $19 million available for FY 2015 with minimum grant amounts of $50,000 and maximum amounts of $500,000 for FY 2015.
The DLT program finances telecommunications equipment, computer networks, and related advanced technologies to extend educational and medical applications into rural areas. Grants are to benefit users in rural areas who are not always in the same location as the source of the educational or healthcare service.
Since 2009, USDA has provided more than $182 million to expand access to learning at nearly 4,700 rural educational facilities and to improve delivery of medical care at more than 2,500 rural health facilities.
