$101 Million for Health Centers

HHS funding $101 million to go to 14 new health center sites in 33 states and two U.S. territories to deliver comprehensive primary healthcare services. These new health centers are projected to increase access to healthcare services for nearly 650,000 patients.

The funding will help the 550 new health center sites that have opened in the last four years. Today, nearly 1,300 health centers operate more than 9,000 service delivery sites to provide care to 22 million patients which is almost 5 million more patients that at the beginning of 2009.

Seven Community Health Centers received about $1 million in funding. The health centers are Arcare www.arcare.net (Arkansas), JWCH Institute Inc. http://jwchinstitute.org (California), HealthLinc http://healthlincchc.org (Indiana), Regional Healthcare Clinic http://health-centers.healthgrove.com (Missouri), Goshen Medical Center www.goshenmedical.org (North Carolina), Mushingum Valley Health Centers www.mvhealthcenters.org (Ohio), and South Central Houston Action Council http://bphc.hrsa.gov (Texas).
