The EDM Forum www.edm-forum.org with support from AHRQ www.ahrq.gov was established to advance the national dialogue on the use of electronic health data for research and quality improvement.
EDM Forum each year supports up to four investigator-initiated projects to stimulate creative strategies to address shared challenges on how best to improve health for patients and populations.
The EDM Forum is seeking proposals for projects that provide novel and collaborative approaches to address the analytic, technological, and governance challenges to use electronic health data in learning health systems. The EDM Forum will not fund research activities currently ongoing at the site or undertake proof of concept studies for disciplinary or disease-specific research studies.
Priority will be given to proposals that focus on the following challenges:
- Tools to promote more open and rapid translation and dissemination of Patient Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR)
- Discuss knowledge management techniques to improve the dissemination of PCOR methods and evidence
- Improve the ability to show and share individual-level data among patients, caregivers, clinicians, and communities
- How to increase the efficiency of consent, shared decision making, capture patients’ goals and preferences for their own care in the EHR and develop approaches on how to visualize patient data
Eligibility is open to individuals with certain areas of expertise from all types of institutions and organizations. Any individual that has the skills, knowledge, and resources to carry out the proposed research acting as the project lead is invited to work with their organization and other collaborating organizations to develop an application.
