AFRL Teams Up with Ohio State

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center http://wexnermedical.osu.edu and the Ohio State Department of Athletics www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com are working on a research project with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson AFB to improve the physical and mental performance of military personnel, athletes, and patients.

The research laboratory with more than 5.700 civilian and military employees is responsible for Air Force science and technology including basic research, applied research, an advanced technology development.

The four year Cooperative Research and Development Agreement will focus on developing innovative human sensor technologies to detect, measure, analyze, and improve the overall health, physical and cognitive functions with patients with autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, TBI, stroke, sleep disorders, and chronic pain.

The next step will be to develop Ohio-based technologies and products for commercialization via the Neuro-Technology Innovations Translator a translational center designed to develop and commercialize technology solutions in neurotechnologies.  The Neuro-Technology Innovations Translator http://development.ohio.gov/files/otf/LOI_OSU_NIT_11252013.pdf,is an Ohio Third Frontier-Funded Center linking Ohio State, AFRL, and other Ohio-based and national public and private partners.
