There are advancements in healthcare focused on enabling patients and providers to be able to monitor healthcare parameters and collect more data in real-time. These advancements will improve disease management by providing both patients and providers with actionable data.
The Air Force Medical Evaluation Support Activity Requirements Division (AFMESA/SGR) is doing market research to identify the technology needed to assist in monitoring disease management, specifically diabetes care management.
AFMESA/SGR on November 26th issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking information on a disease monitoring device capable of monitoring, collecting, and transmitting healthcare data into an interactive interface for use by patients and providers.
Information submitted should identify all parameters monitored wearable or otherwise, interface information, social networking capability (if any), analytics, and any information on case studies, or efficacy trials.
Information should be included on commercially available devices, as well as prototypes that are expected to become commercially available. Technology needs to include applications and software solutions as well as devices that interface with the software solutions. AFMSA anticipates submitting the product for regulatory approval.
AFMESA also seeks information on academic, prototype, developmental, foreign and domestic commercially available products that meet or can be readily modified to meet the requirements.
The RFI titled “AFICA Disease Monitoring Device” Solicitation Number (FA8052_15_Disease_Monitoring_Device) is due December 29, 2014. To view the solicitation, go to www.fbo.gov.
The RFI is not an RFP or a Request for Quotation. The principle contact is Ashley A. Fredlock, AFMESA, at AFMSA.SG5T.Market@us.af.mil or phone 301-619-8600.
