Now smartphones can be used to stay safe during an emergency or when disaster strikes. Humetrix www.humetrix.com, a provider of consumer medical apps showcased their SOS QR www.sos-qr.com emergency app available for iOS and Android Devices at the 2014 mHealth Summit www.mhealthsummit.org.
With a touch of a button, by using the SOS QR, it is easy to alert emergency contacts on your location and the need for help. If a person can’t call for help themselves, the app makes it easy for EMTs and ER doctors to immediately access the health information and send an automatic alert to the person’s emergency contacts.
In an emergency situation, medical personnel can scan the SOS QR code on the phone’s lock screen with any broadly available QR code scanner and quickly learn if the person has any medical conditions, drug allergies, or other pertinent medical information. In addition, when activated, the app will automatically generate an Email Auto-Alert to the user’s emergency contacts, including a map of the location where the incident took place.
SOS QR enables users to change the language of the record display as they travel to different regions of the world. The app is available in English, French, and Spanish and includes support for medications and immunizations available in U.S, France, and Spanish speaking countries.
The app is available for download on Google Play and iTunes allowing anyone to create an emergency record on their smartphone and generate a QR code that can be saved on the lock screen or printed on stickers or wallet cards.
Users can also access and SOS button on their home screen so they can let their emergency contacts know where they are and that they need help. If no further help is needed of if the users wants to reassure loved ones in a disaster, then they can simply tap an OK button that will send a message stating they are safe.
