Mobile Health related startups ready to gear up their businesses are invited to apply to participate in the 2015 Sprint Mobile Health Accelerator http://newsroom.sprint.com/presskits/sprint-accelerates-innovation.htm powered by Techstars www.techstars.com to be conducted March 9 through June 4, 2015 at the Sprint Accelerator Facility in Kansas City’s Crossroads District.
Sprint has a strong history of working with startups in Silicon Valley, Kansas City, and globally to help young companies navigate the corporate world and build momentum behind their new businesses.
Sprint is working with Providence Health & Services, www2.providence.org/pages/default.aspx a not-for-profit Catholic health system based in the State of Washington with a network of 34 hospitals and Providence Ventures to help build mobile health startups.
The Sprint Mobile Health Accelerator is a three month, immersive, mentor-driven program for startups. Each company receives up to $120,000 in funding and in 2015 Techstars will add a first-of-its kind equity back guarantee.
“Techstars accelerator programs revolve around expert mentorship and building long-lasting connections”, said Kevin McGinnis, Vice President, Pinsight Medica+ powered by Sprint. “Through Providence, startups participating in the Mobile Health Accelerator in 2015 will enjoy valuable opportunities to interact with a dynamic innovation-oriented healthcare institutions, including the possibility of piloting their solutions in a number of different clinical settings.”
Providence is very interested in advancing healthcare delivery by funding technology innovations and building a digital platform to make it easier to collaborate with early-stage companies and to help companies achieve their goals, Providence launched a venture capital fund for $150 million in September 2014.
“Providence can provide early-stage companies’ access to world class clinicians and experts who work across the continuum of healthcare,” said Aaron Martin, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Innovations at Providence. “Through this collaboration with Sprint and Techstars, we can help mobile health startups understand how to refine and develop a product that truly meets the needs of healthcare consumers.”
Innovative startups from across the U.S and around the world with a focus on mobile health are welcome to apply at https://www.f6s.com/sprintmobilehealthaccelerator2015#/apply for the 2015 program by December 14, 2014 to take place March 9 through June 4. Ten companies will be selected. Sprint and Techstars are conducting recruiting events and interested companies are encouraged to attend.
