CDC Forecasts Release of RFA

CDC’s Center for Global Health www.cdc.gov/glob is planning to post funding announcement (RFA-GH15-1619) titled “Strengthening and Development of Applied Epidemiology and Sustainable Public Health Capacity” in March 2015.

The goal is to improve regular collaboration, communication, and the exchange of information with CDC’s “Field Epidemiology Training Program” (FETP) www.cdc.gov/globalhealth/fetp.  CDC seeks partners to continue building upon and expanding work that was initiated and completed under FOA GHIO-1006 in 2010.

The plan is to use the funding to improve the use of epidemiology, investigate infectious and non-infectious health problems, and develop health surveillance systems, applied economics, improve communications, and resource management.

FETP works with teams of physicians, epidemiologists, public health advisors, instructional designers, health communication specialists to train them to support the staff. The program also trains public health workers to use science and data to appropriately respond to public health threats.

The Cooperative Agreement will be the funding instrument type. The forecast for funding is $300,000,000 for three awards with the estimated award ceiling to be $20,000,000. It is anticipated that applications will be due May 23, 2015.
