State Support for Medicaid Providers

The New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) www.healthny.gov with support from CMS www.cms.hhs.gov has established the “Data Exchange Incentive program” to help New York Medicaid providers increase their participation in the Statewide Health Information Network of NY (SHIN-NY) http://nyehealth.org/what-we-do/statewide-network.

The program is designed to help defray the cost of connecting to SHIN-NY to help the State reach 3,000 providers contributing at least five of seven identified clinical data elements by September 30, 2015.

New York eHealth Collaboratives www.nyehealth.org as the State Designated Entity is coordinating the roll out of the program and incentive payments. Organizations are eligible to receive incentive payments of up to $30,000 for signing a RHIO Participant Agreement and implementing an EHR interface to use to contribute data to the RHIO.

To take part, Medicaid providers are required to be registered as active fee-for-service providers via the NYS DOH MEIPASS system and must meet the 30 percent patient encounter threshold as defined by the NYS DOH.

Eligible applicants can be physicians both MDs and DOs, dentists, mid-level nurse practitioners,  certified nurse midwives, physician assistants who practice in FQHCs or Rural Health Clinics led by a PA, plus pediatricians that have 20 percent patient visit threshold.
