NIST to Award Cooperative Agreement

NIST is looking for an organization to support SBIR awardees by providing technical, business expertise, and resources. The objective is to promote commercialization for the technologies developed through the SBIR program www.nist.gov/tpo/sbir.

“Commercialization is the main intent of the SBIR program”, said Phillip Singerman, NIST’s Associate Director for Innovation and Industry Services. “This award will provide vital support to small companies seeking to launch new products.”

To find an organization to help the awardees, NIST anticipates funding a five year project beginning in FY 2015 with approximately $60,000 per year subject to the availability of funds. The notice “2014-NIST-SBIR-02 includes details on how to apply with applications due by September 23, 2014. Go to www.grants.gov/web/grants/view-opportunity.html?oppID=262617 for details on the cooperative agreement.

Nonprofit organizations, accredited institutions of higher education, state or local governments, and commercial organizations are eligible to compete for the cooperative agreement under the NIST SBIR Technology Commercialization Assistance Program www.nist.gov/tpo/sbir-020613.cfm  (TCAP). The TCAP recipient will support SBIR awardees in making better technical decisions, solving technical problems, minimizing technical risk, and developing and commercializing new commercial products and processes.
