Over the past ten months, GlobalMed CEO Joel E. Barthelemy has covered a wide range of topics in his weekly video blogs, titled “ConnectedHealth”. Joel Barthelemy has produced his 40th video blog, “Connecting Veterans with Telehealth.” In 2013, it was reported that more than 600,000 veteran patients participated in 1.7 million telehealth episodes of care”.
“Typically the main stream media spends very little time on positive news in so-called feature stories, usually near the end of newscasts”, said Barthelemy. “There are a lot of caring people who work at the VA who are dedicated to providing veterans with quality healthcare and improving outcomes, but you wouldn’t know it from the coverage.”
Both the blog videos and written blog articles are posted on the GlobalMed web site www.globalmed.com on the “Telemedicine Blog” page.
Making videos can be involved and can take a great deal of planning. To start, GlobalMed purchased a second 48,000 square foot building in the Scottsdale, Arizona Airpark. The company then remodeled a 45 by 43 foot space in the rear, installed a Pro-Cye green screen, measuring 16 feet along one wall, 23 feet along another wall, and 12 feet high.
Professional video equipment was purchased. Videos shot in the studio are used to promote company products, educate healthcare providers and the public about telemedicine, and to train clients.
He adds, “A key component of the program is “Clinical Video Telehealth” that includes real-time video consultations covering more than 44 clinical specialties. At the end of the three minute and 48 second piece, he asks his audience to send their thoughts on the video to his email address at joelsblog@globalmed.com.
GlobalMed develops integrated telemedicine solutions for healthcare providers and corporate health programs. The company’s goal is to transform healthcare globally by developing and integrating secure and efficient health delivery systems to improve access and quality of care while eliminating unnecessary costs.
