Software Upgrade Launched

Seattle-based Carena announced a major upgrade to their telemedicine software platform at the ATA 2014 Conference to improve integration with local hospital systems and provider clinics. Carena’s ANYTIME 1.5 platform is able to create a health system-integrated virtual clinic that goes beyond just enabling consultations via phone or video chat.

Carena’s software platform supports mobile browsers and facilitates a virtual exam room with integrated video capabilities. It features configurable workflow views for patients and clinics, as well as image upload and linking capabilities. The new mobile browser accommodation allows virtual house calls on the patients’ terms via tablets and smart phones, no matter the location or time.

A recent report by PricewaterhouseCoopers examined the new healthcare consumer and found that 82 percent of consumers are ready to receive care in new ways including telemedicine. At the same, time health system providers are bracing for the reported eight million new people entering the health insurance system.

This flood of newly insured patients are projected to compel hospitals to seek out new solutions to manage substantially larger panels, ease wait times, and streamline provider workflow. Carena’s services have already been adopted by large healthcare providers including Franciscan Health System and KentuckyOne Health.

“Doctors and Advance Practice Clinicians are facing ever-increasing demands on their time which makes it difficult to learn new care delivery models,” said Dr. Cliff Robertson CEO of Catholic Health Initiative’s Nebraska/Southwest Iowa Network. He reports “the platform’s upgraded platform enables health systems to implement a virtual clinic in less than 90 days without impacting their current clinical operations”.
