The Personal Connected Health Alliance (PCHA) an international non-profit organization recently launched represents the consumer voice in personal connected health. PCHA was recently established by Continua Health Alliance, mHealth Summit, and HIMSS.
PCHA will build upon the resources of the founding organizations to ensure that personal connected health technologies such as smartphones, mobile apps, sensors, and personal health tracking devices are user-friendly, secure, and can easily collect, display, and relay personal health data.
“As healthcare delivery evolves and brings care beyond hospital walls to where we live, work, learn, and play, individuals are being called upon to engage more intimately with their own health and wellness”, said Jeremy Bonfini, Executive Vice president, PCHA.
He added,” PCHA aims to develop and make user friendly personal health devices, mobile apps, sensors, and other connected health technologies readily available and put consumers in the driver’s seat when it comes to their own health.”
The mission of PCHA is to promote the adoption, standardization, and appropriate regulation of personal connected health devices and systems to empower individuals to better manage their health and wellness from anywhere at any time, and produce stronger links between consumers, social networks, and providers.
Additionally, PCHA aims to nurture the technology ecosystem necessary to facilitate “big data” in healthcare and will continue to develop and publish industry standards for interoperability of personal connected health devices.
