NICHD Issues FOA

The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) within NIH released a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) on March 20th looking for applicants to participate in a Cooperative Agreement to develop a centralized Data Coordinating Center (DCC). The Center will have the primary responsibility for data management and analysis for the Collaborative Pediatric Critical Care Research Network (CPCCRN) (RFA-HD-14-020).

In order to respond to the need for well-designed clinical trials, translational and descriptive studies in pediatric critical care, as well as do research to understand the pathophysiology of critical illnesses in childhood, the NICHD established the CPCCRN with funding going to fund six Clinical Centers and to establish the DCC.

NICHD intends to award $2,500,000 in FY 2015 to fund one award. Some of the needs for this cycle of funding for the DCC requirements includes:

  • Designing and conducting data analyses and management of clinical research projects
  • Using informatics and electronic data technologies to produce data collection systems
  • Developing expertise in biostatistics, study design, data management, data analysis, and project management
  • Designing collection modules, operational procedure manuals, quality control systems, and an internet-based communications system for coordinators and other network staff
  • Organizing and conducting multi-site monitoring activities
  • Providing publicly usable data sets in accordance with NIH data sharing and open access policies
  • Making arrangements for the data collection and reimbursement of study-related collection costs at non-network sites participating in network studies

 

Eligible applicants can include institutions of higher education, non-profits, and for-profits to include big and small businesses, governments, and others.
