AtHoc IWS™ an Interactive Warning System dealing in crisis communications helps organizations communicate, interact, and account for all personnel during critical situations. By using the technology, nurses are able to activate a one-click geo-tagged emergency alert from their smartphones and receive immediate help.
Pre-defined emergency scenarios are tailored specifically for medical and healthcare crises. The alerts describe the threat, categorize the threat level, provide vital instructions for taking action, and provide up-to-date information on power outages.
Not only can AtHoc’s alerts notify physicians, nurses, medical staff, administrators, police, safety personnel, and emergency personnel about an incident, but the system can also monitor the status of the hospital’s business-critical patient record system.
Alerts are sent even if the patient record system is offline for maintenance or if a facility system outage occurs. The medical facility can use alerts to find out information on critical healthcare-related notices and can trace organ transplant availability and status.
The Veterans Administration is the first agency to integrate emergency notification with full personnel accountability by using the VA’s Personnel Accountability System (VA-PAS), a unified emergency notification system, powered by AtHoc IWS. Alerts have also been integrated into NAVY PAAS via a secure private cloud.
Today, the VA-PAS emergency manager can use the network-centric system to send notifications via desktop pop-ups with audio alarms, by telephony voice alerts, by email, fax, and send text messages to all targeted devices.
The military has been actively using the AtHoc IWS at Walter Reed National Medical Military Center, Irwin Army Hospital at Fort Riley, Naval Medical Center in San Diego, and at the Wilford Hall Medical Center.
AtHoc IWS is deployed not only within the VA and military but also is helping provide safety for the Department of Homeland Security, the intelligence community, and large global organizations. AtHoc’s offerings are available as Software as a Service (SaaS), on hybrid configurations, and can be tailored to meet exact customer operational needs and security requirements.
To help in Wyoming, it was recently, announced that the Wyoming Military Department has deployed AtHoc IWS to help provide safety for 2,500 personnel. Implementation of the warning system covers the Wyoming Army National Guard, the Wyoming Air National Guard, the Joint Force Headquarters in Cheyenne, Camp Guernsey training base, and multiple subordinate units across the state.
Private companies are benefiting by using emergency alerts in such organizations such as Microsoft, Eastman Chemical, USS-POSCO Industries, Baylor Health, Scott & White Health System, and UCLA.
In addition, the AtHoc Notifier a mobile app enables the user to receive two way communications from the scene of the crisis directly to the operations center. The AtHoc Notifier can be used on government-issued and personal mobile devices and is available for Android smartphones and tablets, iPhones, and iPads.
