ATA Partners with XPRIZE

The American Telemedicine Association (ATA) is now an official partner of XPRIZE regarding the $10 million Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE and the $2.5 million Nokia Sensing XCHALLENGE. Both competitions are an effort to capture the imagination of the public, spur innovations, and accelerate the rate of positive change in accessing and delivering healthcare.

The Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE is a 3.5 year global competition that will award $10 million to teams that develop a consumer-friendly device capable of diagnosing a set of 15 conditions and capturing 5 vital metrics for health. For more information about the Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE, go to www.QualcommTricorderXPRIZE.org.

The $2.5 million Nokia Sensing XCHALLENGE consists of two global competitions to develop sensing technologies that capture meaningful data about a consumer’s health status, surrounding environment, and the risk for developing a health condition.

Nanobiosym Health RADAR was awarded the XCHALLENGE $520,000 Grand Prized for Competition #1 in October 2013. Registration for Competition #2 is currently open. For more information about the Nokia Sensing XCHALLENGE, go to www.nokiasensingxchallenge.org.

ATA’s goal with the partnership is to help the registered teams competing for the Qualcomm competitions better understand the business and clinical processes required to successfully take their innovations to market.

Teams will be offered a free membership in ATA and the opportunity to display their innovation at the ATA Annual Meeting and Tradeshow on May 18-20, 2014 in Baltimore Maryland. For more information on the ATA upcoming meeting, go to www.americantelemed.org.
