AirStrip ONE Launched

Palomar Health in California has just rolled out AirStrip ONE ™ at their inland north county hospitals. The advanced communication solution allows physicians to have instant access to near real-time clinical data. This enables physicians to obtain the information on their patients from their mobile phones, iPads, and other digital devices enabling Palomar Health’s medical staff to have access to their patients’ EKGs in a matter of seconds.

AirStrip Chief Executive Officer Alan Portela explains that the EKG module or “tile” is the first to be tested and activated in a hospital setting and will be followed by the release of additional tiles for obstetricians, critical care physicians, and general medical staff.

“AirStrip ONE will help Palomar Health break down the geographic and technological barriers to data access across the care continuum,” said Portela. “The new technology which is FDA cleared, allows us to represent information from disparate medical record systems through a uniform, intuitive interface.”

According to Ben Kanter, MD., Palomar Health’s Chief Medical Information Officer, the healthcare system partnered with AirStrip to develop the product after first devising a technological platform which created mobile access to EHRs. AirStrip had previously created software that allowed mobile access patient monitoring that includes cardiac and fetal waveforms.

“By working together and combining the two technologies, we are providing a complete package of resources and applications for out physicians,” said Dr. Kanter. “As we incrementally roll out additional features, I anticipate that soon our physicians will be able to view almost all of the information contained within our EHR. The system has been redesigned to take advantage of the smaller screen sizes and unique features found in mobile devices.
