$2.6 Million Raised in Venture Capital

The newly named company Kinematix formerly called Tomorrow Options is a body dynamics company delivering cutting-edge connected health and fitness products used to evaluate body position and movement resulting in improved human function, wellness, and performance.

On October 22, 2013, Kinematix received $2.6 million from venture capital funds managed by Portugal Ventures which complements a $2.3 million investment by Portugal Ventures in a 2008 Series A funding. At the same time, the company headquartered in Portugal has just launched a fully owned U.S subsidiary located in Boston.

Kinematix products incorporate the latest in micro-electronic sensing with connected health features designed for customization, efficiency, and enhanced communications. The products developed by Kinematix have been cleared by both FDA and CE Mark.

The company currently markets two products. The first product MOVINSENSE is a position activity and care plan monitoring system to manage inpatient mobility risks such as pressure ulcers or falls. The system can be used in hospitals, nursing homes, and rehabilitation clinics.

The second product called WALKINSENSE is a prescription fitting system for shoes, insoles, and off-loading devices incorporating in shoe sensing to assess pressure, motion, gait, and body positions in patients with diabetes, gait problems, malformation, or for other corrective orthopedic needs.

The company recently attended and spoke at key connected health events in Boston. Paulo Ferreira dos Santos, CEO of Kinematix presented at the Speakers Corner at the EU-US eHealth Marketplace and Conference on October 22, 2013. He also spoke at the 10th Annual Connected Health Symposium on October 25, 2013 where he took part in a panel discussion entitled, “Entrepreneurial Innovation in Health Care: Collaboration, Funding Opportunities and International Trade.”

It was just announced that Joseph Ternullo has left Partners Health Care after many successful years where he led Partners Health Care’s Annual Connected Health Symposium for ten years. He has joined and will be leading Kinematix.
