Wireless Health Hub Introduced

SoCal Entrepreneurial Ecosystems Development (SoCal EED), a non-profit corporation located in San Diego County, has introduced the Wireless Health Hub a new startup community for wireless health entrepreneurs, founders, investors, business leaders, and other health technology people who are developing wireless medical devices, personal health products and services, and health-related software applications.

The Wireless Health Hub located in San Marcos will serve as a comprehensive, multi-phase platform that will take entrepreneurs entering the wireless health space from accelerator stage to incubator with subsequent support through the independent startup phase.

Jim Butz, President and Founder of SoCal EED said, “There are multiple organizations providing individual startup components like accelerators or incubators, however, we believe that these should be combined with other supporting elements to lead to the evolution of a sustainable startup community.”

The SoCal EED program includes several phases. The first phase is the Seed Accelerator program for first time entrepreneurs via an intensive 90 day industry mentor driven program developed to assist them on their project the first time. The application for the Seed Accelerator program will remain open until November 25, 2013 with the program to launch January 13, 2014. To apply, go to http://wirelesshealthhub.org/accelerator-application.

The second phase will enable Accelerator graduates or serial entrepreneurs to continue their work inside a business incubator for 12-24 month while developing their products and services and still remain accessible to mentors.

Lastly, the third phase will develop a community to provide a sustainable wireless health ecosystem that will include connections to existing wireless health companies, real estate providers, local government, educational institutions, funding sources, strategic partners, and healthcare practitioners.

SoCal EED is in the process of creating industry-focused entrepreneur communities throughout Southern California. The first communities include the Wireless Health Hub in San Marcos, Corona Innovation Center in the City of Corona, and the Murrieta Regional Technology Innovation Center in the City of Murrieta.
