The FCC https://www.fcc.gov/announced that the agency is ready to authorize over $313 million through the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund.
The funds will provide for new broadband deployments in 19 states to bring service to nearly 130,000 locations. This is the eighth round of funding in the program, which to data has provided over $5 billion in funding for new deployments in 47 states to bring broadband to over 2.8 million locations
Also, the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) https://www/ntia.doc.gov has awarded 13 grants as part of the NTIA Broadband Infrastructure Program. These grants totaling more than $277 million will be used to connect more than 133,000 unserved households.
In January 2022, NTIA awarded three additional grants as part of the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program. These grants totaling $1.5 million were awarded to the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians in Lincoln Oregon, and two Alaskan villages.
The Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program has made grants available to help eligible Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiians obtain broadband, digital inclusion, workforce development, telehealth, and distance learning
As announced by Alan Davidson, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information, “In the months to come, the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program will continue to roll out resources so we can close the digital divide on tribal lands.
