NHLBI Releases Grant Notice

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov released the funding notice NOT-HL-22-006 on December 22, 2021. The funding notice seeks technology solutions to provide diagnostics and disease management tools.

The tools will be used to deliver breakthroughs to enable the prevention and treatment of heart, lung, blood, and sleep diseases in underserved communities. The underserved communities can include racial and ethnic minorities, immigrants, the homeless, low income individuals, the uninsured, and people who live in communities that are socioeconomically disadvantaged, rural, or have few healthcare resources.

Community partners and teams will need to engage community partners for the duration of the research to develop but are not limited to:

  • Cuff-less, non-invasive hypertension devices
  • Non-invasive devices that measure tissue oxygenation
  • Circadian-based strategies to improve the efficacy of treatments for the heart, lung, blood, and for sleep disorders
  • Devices to predict the risks for preeclampsia in pregnant women
  • Screening tools to identify mental and substance use disorders to prevent cardiovascular disease
  • Portable EEGs for core body temperature tracking and heart rate variability assessment in sleep and circadian disorders
  • Analyze how a test can be used as a diagnostic program for HLBS disease using wearable devices and phones
  • Developing mobile health tools to monitor asthma symptoms in pediatric patients at home
  • Developing low-cost echocardiography for rheumatic heart disease and cardiac sarcoidoisis

 

This Notice applies to due dates on or after February 5, 2022 and subsequent receipt dates through July 6, 2025.
